What is Sheffield Academy of Performing Arts?
Sheffield Academy of Performing Arts is a stage school that provides students with expert teaching in Drama, Singing and Dance. Our teachers are experienced, fully trained, CRB checked and are knowledgeable and skilled performers in their own right.
Each term we focus on working on the variety of skills needed to become an all-round performer and we help prepare those who wish to enter the industry. Our goal is to improve pupil’s confidence and develop their performance skills. All pupils are treated equally, with respect and will be given many opportunities to excel and to test themselves in a safe setting. We aim to make S.A.P.A. like a family where all members work at their own pace and support one another as they strive towards a common goal.
Pupils get the opportunity to participate in solo and group work and will be challenged through in-house and external assessment to develop technique and knowledge. Every year there are a number of concerts or shows to give the students a chance to gain valuable performance experience. Every year we work on a large production using a local, fully-equipped theatre with full costume, props and lighting.
S.A.P.A is open to pupils from the age of six to eighteen years old (mature five year olds are also considered). They are divided by age into three classes: Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors.
The S.A.P.A day consists of registration followed by three rotating lessons in Dance, Drama and Singing. There will be a short break during the day for a drink and a snack.
